WATERCOLOR with John PrestonLearn from one of the Midwest’s best watercolorists. Demonstrations and individualized instruction will be included. If weather appropriate, some class time will be spent outdoors. Materials list will be provided after you pre-register.

THE ART OF FRAMING with Ken DubinThis informative seminar will explore basic framing solutions of ones art, collectables or just about anything you may want to frame. Discussed will be materials used for preservation framing and why its important, designing the frame your artwork will be put in, considerations artists will find useful for exhibiting their work, tips for the do-it yourself framer, where to find materials and more. No materials needed.

"Linocut Printmaking with Collaged Mono Prints" with Alicia CarradusA printmaking technique using a variant woodcut process on a relief surface. Create prints with our tools & press. Additional collaged mono printing process included. Class Limit 8 Most materials furnished. A materials list will be provided after pre-registering.

"Art Quilting: A Free Motion Quilting and Embellishing Workshop" with Wendy ReadThis two-day quilting arts workshop will provide ample time for participants to learn a variety of art quilting techniques, including free motion quilting, thread painting, and embellishing, as well as the use of dissolvable stabilizer. Students will practice both established free motion quilting patterns, such as feathers and spirals, as well as improvisational stitching. The application of embellishments, such as novelty yarns, fibers, fabrics and beads, and the use of dissolvable stabilizer, will be explored. Supply list available at preregistration

"Fabric Dyeing, Painting, and Bleach Discharging: An Introductory Workshop" with Wendy ReadStudents will learn different fabric dyeing and painting techniques, as well as bleach discharging, to create interesting colors and patterns on fabrics and/or T-shirts. Instructor will supply the fabric dyes, paints, bleach and necessary chemicals for preparing and fixing dyes. Student Supply list provided at preregistration

" Collage" with Elaine DuncanUsing colored paper and cut-out images to give shape to your day dreams. Start saving pictures from magazines, greeting cards, and other sources. Class Limit 12

"Study of the Still Life" in Soft Chalk Pastel or Oil with Gin LammertLearn to see and create the illusion of form on paper or canvas using vibrant colors in different values(tones). Demonstrations of techniques will be followed with Individual guidance from the instructor. A materials list will be provided after pre-registering.Class Limit 10 (Option: bring sack lunch /stay and work since I plan to stay in studio)

"Introduction to Intaglio Printmaking- Drypoint Technique" with Kella MoschkauCapture the magical usage of a scratched line drawing to produce multiple prints as you learn the printing process of drypoint. Each will be individually inked, wiped and printed on a printing press from a metal plate by the artist on acid-free, all rag paper. Start compiling your small (4"x6") drawing ideas and good value contrast photo references. Group and Individual Instruction. A materials list will be provided after pre-registering.Class Limit 8 participants

Our Instructors:
Alicia Carradus is a talented local artist working in variety of media. She is currently an art teacher in the area School District and serves on the FAA board. Alicia exhibits at and has instructed numerous classes for the FAA. She is also active in creating artistic sets for local theater productions.
Ken Dubin started STUDIO 210 in the West Loop area of Chicago. Clients include the Spertus Museum, Chicago Holocaust Society, Adler Planetarium, Chicago Historical Society, Chicago Architecture Foundation, New Orleans Art Institute, the Racine Art Museum in Wisconsin, PS1 in New York
Elaine Duncan has exhibited two- and three dimensional media in galleries, competitions, festivals, and other venues in Iowa, Arizona, and California. She has taught children and adults privately and publicly. She graduated with honors from the University of California at Berkeley where she received a bachelor’s degree in fine arts. She is currently exhibiting and teaching in Fairfield at the FAA.
Gin Lammert has been working with soft pastels since 1995, creating award winning portraits, Landscapes and still lifes. Capturing a moment in time that is rich with emotion and spirit of a place, person, or item is what Gin is best known for accomplishing. She is member of Mid America Pastel Society.
Kella j.Moschkau creates visual 2-dimensional compositions using various mediums of drawing, painting, and printmaking. Subjectivity and art spirit (logic and imagination) are important factors in her Arts Philosophy as a 35 year Visual Art Educator, Instructor, and Fine Artist.
John Preston, a very well know midwest artist, is amaster of watercolor and pastel. John has works in many private & corporate collections and exhibits regularly at Olsen Larson Gallery in Des Moines.
Wendy Read is an accomplished fiber artist. She has had numerous art quilts juried into international, national, and regional galleries and shows, and will share some of the techniques she has utilized in her art quilts. Wendy is a member of Iowa Art Quilters Guild, Professional Art Quilt Alliance, America Quilters Society & International Quilt Association
