There's something about Fairfield...

Fairfield is Iowa's foremost art colony with diverse cultural events and international cuisine at over 40 restaurants. This Iowa Great Place features year-round family fun at the award-winning 1st Fridays Art Walk and other festivals, abundant recreation, sustainable living and an entrepreneurial spirit uniquely found amongst the cornfields of southeastern Iowa.

Fairfield offers a unique, eclectic scene of art galleries, shops and eateries. Many people's image of southeast Iowa doesn't include the world's premier Ayurvedic health spa, more restaurants per capita than San Francisco or 40 art galleries and venues on the downtown square, but these are some of the many features that make Fairfield a great place to visit and to call home. Our world class arts, theatre and music, combined with our recreational opportunities provide ....something for everyone.

Fairfield 1st Fridays Art Walk 'All Things Italian' - June

Iowa is not traditionally known for Italian deserts served at sidewalk cafes, a Zampogna playing traditional bagpipes and tenors signing arias. During 'All Things Italian' the Fairfield Square has the feel of an Italian 'piazza' street festival. The All Things Italian festival features continuous live Italian musical performances in the gazebo, Madonarri sidewalk art, an elaborate street art form in chalk innovated in Italy, and Pulicinella puppet show. Art galleries, merchants and restaurants host local and regional arts and entertainment with an Italian flair.

Fairfield 1st Fridays Art Walk 'All Things Local' - September

Celebrate the family farm and the art of abundant living as Fairfield showcases 'All Things Local' and experiences the popular buy fresh, buy local scene. The celebration features fresh, local food including local produce vendors, root beer floats with homemade rootbeer and ice cream, apple juice pressed on site, slices of pie with local apples, blackberries and other locally grown fruit. Where else can you experience modern abstract art across the street from blacksmith demonstrations - only at the 1st Fridays Art Walk, 'All Things Local.'

Fairfield 1st Fridays Art Walk 'Oktoberfest' - October

Put on your lederhosen and grab your stein as Fairfield celebrates the taste of Germany with an emphasis on quilt and fiber art. Enjoy the festival in style with German beer and wine tasting, authentic German food and drink, polka music and horse-drawn carriage rides.
