Winner of "The Biggest Loser" Season 2

Joining the SEI-Tri this year will be Matt Hoover. Matt is an Iowa native who had a stellar collegiate career in wrestling at the University of Iowa. In 2005, He won the grand prize on NBC's "The Biggest Loser" and will be in Fairfield to be the Keynote speaker at this year's Southeast Iowa Wellness Expo to be held at the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center. Matt is currently in training for the Ironman and can't wait to come out and meet you at the SEI-Tri. Matt will be available at the Wellness Expo to sign autographs and t-shirts following the triathlon.

WELCOME TO THE SOUTHEAST IOWA TRIATHLON

Distance:
1/4 mile swim (lake) + 6.2 mile bike (road) + 1.5 mile run (street)
Course starts at Waterworks Park and ends at the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center (final course to be determined - course map coming soon!) Water will be provided along the route. The race will be electronically timed by www.ItsRaceTime.com and results will be available immediately following the race in the Wellness Expo exhibitor Hall.


Registration Fee:
$50 per person or $75 per relay team


Awards:
Overall winners and top 3 finishers in each age group.


Schedule (CST):

  • 7:00am - Registration at Waterworks Park; look for the shelter in the center of the park
  • 8:00am - Race Briefing
  • 8:30am - Swim Start (wave start)
  • 11:00pm - Awards & Door Prizes at the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center

Divisions:

  • Individual Age Groups (female & male): 14 & under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, Over 70
  • Relays: Athletes can register as a relay team. Teams are comprised of two or three members, with only one member of the team participating in each segment, the swim, bike or run. 39 & under co-ed / 40 & up co-ed

Registration is open to anyone 14 years or older capable of safely completing a triathlon of equal or greater distance in the allotted time. If the registrant is under 18 years of age, parental permission is required.

RULES OF PARTICIPATION / IMPORTANT THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW

Chip Timing:
The race will be timed by It's Race Time Timing Company. Chip Distribution will be Race Morning at Waterworks Park. A chip timing device must be attached to each participant's ankle with a strap (provided). The chip interacts with sensor mats placed at key race areas, to record each individual's exact time and place, at those intervals. Volunteers will be on hand at the finish line to collect chips. However each participant is responsible for the return of his or her chip. A $30 charge will be assessed if the Chip is not returned.


Safety:

  • If you need help during the swimming phase, take your cap off and wave it in the air. Lifeguards and safety personnel will assist.
  • Please Note: No Bike Helmet - No Race
  • You must sign the Event Waiver and Disclaimer Form.
  • Only participants are allowed in the transition areas.
  • You must attend the 8:00 a.m. pre-race briefing
  • Do not bring pets to the event.

Awards:

  • Overall awards are given to the Top Three male and female finishers
  • Additional awards are given to the Top Three finishers in each age group
  • Team Awards are given to all members of the First Place Team for each category
  • Race Organizer reserves the RIGHT TO ADD/DELETE number of awards in age group categories prior to race day based on registrants in that category. SEI-Tri does not mail out awards, please have a friend pick up your award.

Photos:
SEI-Tri will have a photographer present at the races. The photos taken will be used by SEI-Tri to promote future events. SEI- Tri will manage these images and will not pass them on to any third party. It's Race Time will be taking photos of all participants at the finish line. You may purchase copies of these photos on their website.


Refund and Inclement Weather:
All entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. In the event of inclement weather, the race will be delayed as long as possible to ensure success of the e vent; a cancellation will occur as a last resort.


T-Shirts:
Participants, who registered before September 12, 2010 will receive a commemorative T-shirt.


Waivers:
All entrants will be required to sign a waiver and a release of liability form on or before race day. An athlete will not be allowed to compete unless the required forms have been completed and received.

  • ACTS OF GOD & OTHERS DISCLAIMER: Although it is not anticipated that weather, road construction, etc.. will affect the race. The race organizers reserve the right to adjust the course, the time of the race and anything other compensations necessary including cancellation of the race due to factors beyond their control which includes, but is not limited to weather, road construction, police activity or emergencies. We will make every effort to conduct the race to the best of our ability with the safety of all participants and volunteers in mind.
  • Assumption of Risk/Liability: While triathlon is a recreational sport, there are inherent risks and dangers. All athlete/members/training partners are responsible for their own safety during group rides or training sessions, and assume any and all risks of injury, harm, medical conditions, or property damage. Triathletes are urged to wear protective gear (including helmets) and ride/train with caution and respect for others. Southeast Iowa Triathlon and its associates make no representations or guarantees of any kind relating to safety for training or triathlon events. By participating in triathlons/training, each athlete (on behalf of him/herself and his/her family and heirs) voluntarily accepts any and all risks, assumes all liabilities, and waives and releases any and all damages against Southeast Iowa Triathlon (SEI-Tri) or its owners, agents, staff, managers, sponsors or associates. If you do not so agree, do not participate in this event.
