    Located in the Old Armory, this Saturday morning market features locally produced products, crafts and food.

  • November 7 - January 4, 2009 - Large Works Show At ICON Gallery 58 N. Main
    ICON Gallery is mounting its 2nd Annual Large Works Show as a complement to Art Life Society’s 7th Annual Small Works Show. The show opens on the 1st Friday Art Walk, November 7th, and continues through January 4th.

    At the Emerald Gallery, 56 1/2 N. Main Street (above Central Park Futon). ArtLife Society again presents the annual International Small Works Show featuring work by recognized and emerging artsists from Iowa, across the country and abroad.

  • December 7 - 1st Fridays Art Walk - Gingerbread Extravaganza
    6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. - The Gingerbread Extravaganza features Iowa's largest display of baked gingerbread creations, from local, regional and guest bakers/artists. Come to see the delightful displays in all the town square merchants' windows.

  • December 11 - New Prairie Camerata; Duos and Trios for Flute, Violin, Piano and Viola
    7:30 p.m. - Sondheim Center for the Performing Arts. The program features both brilliant and introspective compositions for various combinations of four instruments: flute, violin, piano and viola. The musicians are Claudia Anderson, flute, Nancy McFarland Gaub, violin, Eugene Gaub, piano and guest artist Christine Rutledge on viola.

  • March 1 - Chamber Music Society Fairfield prsents Red Cedar Chamber Music: Home Sweet Home
    2:00 p.m. The MainStay Inn, 300 N. Main, Fairfield; Red Cedar Chamber Music artists Jan Boland, flute, John Dowdall, guitar and Loretta O'Sullivan, cello will regale you with American chamber music from the 19th century. What’s more American than the music of beloved 19th century songwriter Stephen Collins Foster at the beautiful MainStay Inn (built in 1890) in Fairfield. Toss in Red Cedar on period instruments and post-concert refreshments and return to your roots with tunes popular when Iowa became a state in 1846. Foster’s toe-tapping jigs blend with his ethereal Beautiful Dreamer, Jeanie With the Light Brown Hair and music of his European contemporaries to create a relaxing and memorable afternoon.     The reigning United States National dance champions in formation dance, The Ballroom Dance Company, will be making a stop on their national tour to the Sondheim Center showcasing a stage performance of spectacular dance formations, solo routines, and ensemble numbers, In the style of a major Broadway production, the showcase moves from the graceful glide of evening gowns and tuxedos to the upbeat and energetic sizzle of Latin-style dance. Colorful costumes, diverse repertoire, and exceptional choreography make this show an instant audience favorite.

  • May 23 - Hong Heyboer Murray Trio - Trios for Flute, Cello and Pizano by Haydn, Martinu and Mendelssohn
    7:30 p.m. - At the Sondheim Center for the Performing Arts. Chamber Music Society Fairfield presents the Hong Heyboer Murray Trio. They will perform a recital of works for flute, cello and piano by Haydn, Martinù and Mendelssohn on Saturday, May 23, 2009, 7:30 p.m at the Sondheim Center. This distinguished ensemble draws upon an international musical background to bring to life seldom heard works with brilliance and polish.

    Pianist Hye-Jung Hong has received critical praises for the artistry of her performances in Germany, Holland, Italy, Malaysia and throughout North America. Flutist Jill Heyboer is active in the Interlochen Music Festival and is principal flutist in the Springfield Symphony. Cellist Michael Murray has performed widely in Europe and the United States.
